Michael Davie

Men's Basketball Director Of Strength And Conditioning & Sport Science at BYU Athletics

Michael Davie has a strong background in strength and conditioning coaching, with experience in various sports organizations. Michael most recently worked at BYU Athletics as the Men's Basketball Director of Strength and Conditioning & Sport Science since August 2023. From 2015 to 2023, they were a Senior Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Milwaukee Bucks Inc. Michael also worked as a Senior Strength & Conditioning Coach for British Basketball in 2015.

Prior to that, Michael worked at Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) from 2007 to 2015, where they served as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for various programs, including QAS Rowing, QAS Sailing, QAS Swimming, Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Diving, AIS Cricket Centre of Excellence, QAS Triathlon, and QAS Women Football.

Michael was a Level 1 & 2 Coaching Course Presenter for the Australian Strength & Conditioning Association (ASCA) from 2013 to 2015. Michael also worked as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for Queensland Ballet from 2013 to 2014, Swimming Australia from 2011 to 2013, and Diving Australia Limited from 2009 to 2013.

In addition, they served as the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Brisbane ROAR FC, a women's professional soccer team in Australia, from 2008 to 2012. Michael started their coaching career as an Assistant Strength And Conditioning Coach at Brisbane Grammar School from 2005 to 2007.

Michael Davie completed their education at various institutions. Michael obtained a Master of Exercise Science (Strength & Conditioning) degree from Edith Cowan University in the years 2008-2011. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement Studies) degree from QUT (Queensland University of Technology) between 2002 and 2005. In 1998, Michael completed a Diploma of Management at the Yeronga Institute of TAFE.

In addition to their degrees, Michael Davie acquired several certifications in the field of sports and exercise science. Michael obtained the RSCC*D certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in January 2018. The following year, in January 2017, they received the certification of Certified Sports Nutritionist from the International Society of Sports Nutrition. Furthermore, they became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA in December 2005. In September 2005, Michael obtained a Level 2 Strength and Conditioning Coach certification from the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA), as well as a Level 2 Weightlifting Coach certification from the Australian Weightlifting Association. Michael also acquired a Level 2 Sports Trainer certification from Sports Medicine Australia in September 2003.
