Kurell Julien has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Starting from 2005, Kurell worked as an Inventory/Production Planner at Lawrence Metal Products, analyzing and planning inventory and sourcing new suppliers. In 2009, they joined Air Industries Machining Corp., first as a Purchasing Agent and then as a Production Planner, where they coordinated material sourcing and developed planning templates. From 2013 to 2017, Kurell served as a Production Planning and Purchasing Manager at D.W. Haber & Son, Inc., managing purchasing staff and maintaining inventory stock. They also founded and served as the CEO of innova Life from 2014 to 2020, organizing community-based events and facilitating empowerment workshops. In 2017, Kurell joined the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, holding various roles such as Program Lead, Equity Officer for COVID-19 Citywide Health Emergency Field Operations, and Director of Office of Access & Disability Justice. They also worked as a Lead Trainer for Race, Equity & Social Justice and Co-Chair for the LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group at the same organization. In 2021, Kurell became an Adjunct Trainer at For The Culture Consulting, LLC. Currently, Kurell is an Associate Director in Equity, Inclusion & Justice at BSR.
Kurell Julien has a diverse education history. Kurell is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree at Morehouse College, with an expected completion date in 2024. In 2022, they participated in the Diverse Executives Leading in Public Health (DELPH) Program as a Program Fellow, which was conducted by the Association of State & Territorial Health Officials and the Satcher Health Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine. Additionally, in the same year, they also completed the Social Impact and Management Core Certificate Program as a Program Fellow at the Institute for Nonprofit Practice.
Prior to their current academic pursuit, Kurell obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Sociology from the City University of New York-Herbert H. Lehman College in 2020. In 2014, they graduated from Metropolitan College of New York with a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree, focusing on Project Management. Their educational journey began with the completion of their High School Diploma from South River High School in 2003.
In addition to their formal education, Kurell has obtained several certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. Kurell completed the Diverse Executives Leading in Public Health program from the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials in May 2023. Kurell also obtained certifications in Driving Change and Anti-Racism from LinkedIn in November 2021, as well as Change Management Foundations, also from LinkedIn, in October 2021.
