Makiah Belk has a diverse work experience. In 2019, they worked as a VOCA Paralegal at South Carolina Legal Services for six months. They then worked as a Contact Tracer at the S.C. Department of Health & Environmental Control from June 2020 to August 2020. In 2021, they served as a Boutique Paralegal at Colbert Law Firm for one month. In 2022, Makiah worked as a Receptionist at Soteria Community Development Corporation from May 2022 to September 2022 before becoming a Wilderness Therapy Field Instructor at Trails Momentum from September 2022 to December 2022. Makiah also worked at Robertson, Anschutz, Schneid, Crane & Partners, PLLC in 2022 as a Jr. Operations Analyst, where they were promoted from a legal assistant role. Finally, in 2023, they started working as a Medical Fitness Instructor at Burnalong.

Makiah Belk attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2015 to 2019. During this time, Makiah pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree and focused on fields of study such as Political Science, English, and Comparative Literature. In 2017, Makiah also briefly studied at the University of Cape Town, although the specific degree and field of study are unknown.
