Michael Yates has a diverse work experience in various roles within the food and service industry. Michael started their career as a Line Cook and Supervisor at Sharkey's Wing and, where they trained staff and ensured high-quality food. Michael then worked as an Assistant Manager, Bartender, and Server at the Sportsmen Tavern, where they learned front-of-house procedures and contributed to menu changes. Michael then became a Floor Manager at Great Seasons Bistro, where they scheduled employees, conducted cost analysis, and assisted with catering events. Michael also gained customer service experience as a Customer Service Representative at State Farm Insurance, where they assisted customers and organized files. Later on, Michael worked as a Kitchen Manager at Third Base Grill, managing inventory and pricing menu items. Michael then held the position of Sous Chef at Agave Roja, where they managed inventory, led kitchen staff, and supervised food orders. More recently, Michael has been working at Burger Bach, starting as an Operations Director and then transitioning to the role of Chief Operations Officer.

Michael Yates attended New Kent High School for an unspecified period of time. Michael then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management at Virginia Tech from 2006 to 2009. Later, in 2011, they enrolled in The Illinois Institute of Art- Chicago and obtained an Associate degree in Applied Science with a focus on Culinary Arts.
