Emma Howard

Emma Howard is an experienced scientist with a focus on climate science and meteorology. Currently serving as a Scientist at the Bureau of Meteorology since January 2022, Emma previously held the position of Research Scientist at the University of Reading, specializing in convection and air-sea interactions. Additional experience includes roles as Observer at Radcliffe Meteorological Station and Wind Engineer at Windlab, where key contributions involved project support, wind mapping, and research and development in wind energy. Emma has also contributed as a Casual/Sessional Academic at the Australian National University, tutoring mathematics courses, and as a Vacation Scholar at CSIRO, investigating teleconnections between sea surface temperatures and precipitation patterns. Emma earned a Ph.D. in Geography and The Environment from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) from The Australian National University, emphasizing mathematics and geophysical fluid dynamics.
