Ryan Jacobs has a diverse work experience starting in 2010 as an Editorial Intern at The Chicago Reporter. Ryan then worked as a Reporting Fellow at Point Reyes Light and as an Editorial Intern at Sierra Magazine in 2011. In 2012, they served as a Contracted Reporter at The Bay Citizen and as a Senior Editorial Fellow at Mother Jones. Moving forward, Ryan joined The Atlantic in 2013 as a Writer/Producer for the Global channel. In 2014, they became a News Editor at Pacific Standard Magazine and later became a Senior Editor. At Penguin Random House in 2015, Ryan worked as an Author, writing and publishing an investigative, narrative nonfiction book called "The Truffle Underground." From 2014 to 2019, they held the position of Deputy Editor at Pacific Standard Magazine. Currently, Ryan holds the role of Senior Director of Editorial at Built In since 2023.
Ryan Jacobs has a Bachelor of Science degree, summa cum laude, in Magazine Journalism with a minor in Sociological Research from Northwestern University.
