In 2019, they were a Co-Founder and CTO of Loom Technologies, where they built a better contacts application and received seed funding from Sequoia and Decibel. Akshay mainly worked with Swift and Go. From 2015 to 2011, they were a Staff Software Engineer at Uber, where they were an infrastructure engineer working with anomaly detection, network protocols & service mesh, RPC, and service frameworks. Their work was mainly in Go, with some Python and client-side Javascript. From 2011 to 2011, they were a Software Engineer at Hearsay Social, where they did full-stack web development at a startup selling compliance and marketing software to large financial services companies. Their work was mainly in Python, with some Go, Ruby, and client-side Javascript. Finally, they were a Fellow at HealthTap from 2011 to 2011, where they did medical informatics and growth at a small startup building a health question-and-answer site. Their work was mainly in Ruby, R, and unreasonably complex awk.
Akshay Shah attended Yale University from 2001 to 2005, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology. Akshay then attended Vanderbilt University School of Medicine from 2005 to 2011, where they earned an MD in Medicine.
