Sarah Applegate French has been working in the commercial real estate and packaging engineering industries since 2006. In 2018, they began working as a Senior Account Manager for ML Jordan | Commercial Real Estate Marketing and as a Contract Packaging Engineer for DEUFOL - North America Inc. Prior to that, they were employed by Newell Brands from 2014 to 2018, where they held the roles of Senior Packaging Engineer, Packaging Engineer, and Associate Packaging Engineer. From 2013 to 2014, they worked as a Product Designer & Packaging Engineer for Phoenix Packaging Group, and from 2013 to 2012, they were a Designer/PR Coordinator for the Packaging Program and a Graphic Designer for the Department of Sustainable Biomaterials at Virginia Tech. In 2012, they worked as a Product Design Intern at Hapco Pole Products, where they researched and designed outdoor shelters for a potential product line. Finally, in 2006, they worked as a Lifeguard for Ship Bottom Beach Patrol.

Sarah Applegate French completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Industrial and Product Design from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2013. Prior to that, they attended Southern Regional High School from 2003 to 2007.
