Dan began their career in 1993 as a news reporter for the Yorkshire Evening Press. Dan then moved to the Birmingham Post where they worked as a business reporter for two years. Dan then spent six years as the editor of Lombard, a daily UK business column for the Financial Times.
In 2006, Dan became the deputy editor of The Sunday Telegraph, with responsibility for the paper's politics, foreign affairs and business departments. Dan also wrote a weekly column.
