Ian Lau serves as the President of the American Cancer Society Brown Chapter, organizing fundraising events and implementing a clinical patient support volunteer program. As a Research Assistant in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Brown University, Ian engages in research on pH regulating hydrogels in cancer cell environments. Ian also volunteers with Clinica Esperanza, conducts legislative advocacy for cancer policy changes through the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, and addresses healthcare needs for vulnerable populations with Lifespan Community Health Institute. Additional roles include co-leading a study on chemotherapy patients at The Miriam Hospital, serving as an EMT with Brown University Emergency Medical Services, providing companionship to hospice patients through HopeHealth, and founding Blissful Boomers to enhance intergenerational relationships within the senior community. Ian's academic background includes a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Brown University and previous educational experiences at Arcadia High School and Pasadena City College.
