Shamilka Karunanayake began their professional career in 2018 as an Internship Trainee at Sampath Bank. Shamilka gained valuable experience during their time there before moving on to Brown & Company PLC in 2021. At Brown & Company PLC, Shamilka started as an Intern and then progressed to the role of Finance Officer. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Finance Officer.

From 2019 to 2023, Shamilka Karunanayake completed a Bachelor of Management (Honors) degree in Accounting and Finance at NSBM Green University.
