Vanessa von Eicken has a comprehensive work experience in the field of user experience design. Vanessa is currently serving as the VP Experience Design at BrokerLift Inc since September 2022. Prior to this role, they held the position of Director of User Experience at the same company from January 2017 to September 2022.
Before joining BrokerLift Inc, Vanessa worked as a freelance UX Designer starting from August 2013. Vanessa collaborated with various companies and agencies to design B2B and B2C user experiences. During this time, they served as the UX lead and designer for projects such as B2B online broker quoting application and portal experience at RSA, internal applications at Bennet Jones, B2C insurance applications and B2B portal design at BrokerLift, and B2C regulatory reporting online application at Citco Group of Companies.
Their earlier experiences include the role of Lead Interaction Designer and User Experience Designer at Capital C from June 2012 to August 2013, UX Manager at Trapeze Media from June 2011 to June 2012, and User Experience and Information Architect at Ecomm International - Partner from March 2008 to June 2011.
Vanessa also had engagements as a User Experience professional at Devlin and Syncapse in 2010, where they worked on various projects. In addition, they provided digital strategy consultation as a UX contractor at Scotiabank from 2009 to 2010 and worked as a User Experience Information Architect at Flagstone Reinsurance Holdings Ltd. in 2008.
Vanessa began their career at Sapient, where they served as an Information Architect and User Experience professional from 2004 to 2008. In this role, they were involved in developing and designing user experiences for small and large firms, encompassing tasks such as user research, concepting, interaction design, visual design, prototyping, and usability testing. Vanessa also interacted with designers and user experience researchers in their position as Senior Manager of the user experience team at Sapient.
Vanessa von Eicken earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts from Bishop's University. Vanessa then pursued a Master's in Electronic Commerce at Dalhousie University from 1999 to 2001, but did not complete the program (ABD - All But Dissertation). In 2014, they attended Zurb University, where they completed a course in RWD Foundation 5, although it does not specify if they obtained a degree.
