Matthew Southern has a diverse work experience in various roles. Matthew started their career as a Sales Representative at Aflac from 2002 to 2005, specializing in business-to-business supplemental disability packages. Matthew achieved outstanding sales and received awards for their performance.

From 2011 to 2013, Matthew worked at Eli Lilly and Company as a Sales Representative. Matthew demonstrated exceptional sales skills, consistently exceeding quotas and ranking among the top performers in their division. Matthew also took on additional responsibilities as a Business Acumen Champion and a Lilly Science Coach.

In 2014, Matthew joined Angie's List as an Advertising Account Manager. Matthew effectively managed a large portfolio of clients and provided strategic solutions to help them achieve long-term success.

In 2016, Matthew joined Verdure Sciences as Sales Operations and Strategy, where they contributed to the company's sales operations and developed strategic plans.

Most recently, Matthew is currently working at brightlamp Inc. Matthew started as the Commercialization and Marketing Director in 2018 and was promoted to Chief Commercial Officer in January 2020.

Matthew Southern earned their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration, Management and Operations from Purdue University between 2021 and 2023. Before that, they attended Indiana University - Kelley School of Business from 2006 to 2011, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business with a triple major in Marketing, Supply-Chain, and International Studies. Additionally, during their time at Indiana University, Matthew Southern also earned a minor in Economics. Earlier in their education, they attended Indiana University Bloomington from 1997 to 2000, studying Biology/Biological Sciences, General, although they did not obtain a degree in that field. Matthew Southern has also obtained certifications, including a Six Sigma Green Belt from Kelley School of Business Indianapolis in March 2011. There is another certification called "Kepner Tregoe," but information about the institution and the date of obtaining it is not available.
