Olcay Akgün has a diverse work experience in the software development field. Olcay started their career in 2017 as a Software Developer at Webmarket Internet Hizmetleri. In 2018, they joined Dijital Yaka Yazılım as a Software Developer, where they focused on developing SaaS-based software using PHP. Olcay then moved on to Medicom in 2020, where they served as a Senior Software Developer until 2023. In May 2023, Olcay Akgün joined Bren as a Senior Software Developer Team Lead.

Olcay Akgün obtained a Bachelor's degree in Labor Economics and Industrial Relations from Dokuz Eylul University. Olcay pursued their education at the university from 1998 to 2008.
