John Keitt is an experienced executive with extensive expertise in legal, business, and operations roles. Currently serving as Vice Chairman and Treasurer of The Shockoe Foundation since January 2024, Keitt also holds the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Breeders’ Cup Limited, overseeing prestigious Thoroughbred racing events and qualification series. In addition, Keitt is a Board Member of the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, which supports the rehoming of Thoroughbreds. Previous roles include CEO, Publisher, and Editorial Director at BloodHorse LLC, Managing Director at RSR Partners, and Partner positions at Elizabeth Wall Partners International LLC and Dewey Ballantine. Notably, Keitt was the first General Counsel at The Associated Press, where significant governance reforms were implemented. Educational qualifications include an LLM from the University of Cambridge, a BA in History from Dartmouth College, and a JD from the University of South Carolina.
