Brian Watkins, Ph.D., currently serves as the Assistant Director of Park Operations at BREC since March 2020. Prior experience includes positions as City Arborist for the City of Gainesville (September 2019 - March 2020) and City Forester for the City of Dallas (April 2018 - September 2019). Additionally, Brian held the role of Co-Teacher at Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy (June 2017 - April 2018) and Urban Forestry Foreman at BREC (June 2015 - December 2017) and The Recreation and Parks Commission for East Baton Rouge (June 2015 - December 2016). Academically, Brian holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Urban Forestry, a Master of Science in Urban Forestry, and a Master of Public Administration from Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College at Baton Rouge.
