Luciane Schons-Fonseca is a seasoned scientist with extensive experience in the field of biochemistry and microbial genetics. Currently serving as a Senior Scientist at Braskem America since September 2022, Luciane previously held various positions at Zymergen, Inc. from March 2020 to September 2022, advancing from Scientist I to Scientist III. Earlier roles include Strain Engineer at enEvolv and Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where research focused on the impact of genotoxic stress on bacterial cells, revealing insights into DNA replication stress and a conserved recombination pathway. Luciane completed a PhD at USP - Universidade de São Paulo, studying stress responses in the human pathogen Leptospira interrogans, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul.
