David Carradine is a seasoned structural engineer with a focus on timber engineering. Currently serving as Past President for the New Zealand Timber Design Society since February 2021, David is dedicated to keeping design professionals informed about advancements in timber engineering both nationally and globally. With extensive experience as a Senior Structural Research Engineer at BRANZ since September 2012, David conducts research and testing on various building systems utilized in New Zealand and Australia. Previous roles include Timber Research Engineer at the University of Canterbury, where David contributed to post-tensioned timber building systems and supervised timber research for master's and doctoral students. David's early career included serving as Technical Director for Structural Testing at WSU Wood Materials and Engineering Laboratory and as a Joiner at Blue Ridge Timberwrights. David holds a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering with a specialization in Timber from Virginia Tech.
