Jeffrey Hackett

Head of Customer Relations at Brains Capital

Jeffrey Hackett has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Jeffrey currently holds the position of Head of Customer Relations at Brains Capital, a role they assumed in January 2023. Prior to this, they had their own consulting firm called Jeffrey J. Hackett Consulting Services, where they worked as a Consultant starting from October 2020.

From October 2020 to December 2022, Jeffrey worked as a Senior Consultant, Financial Crimes Managed Services at KPMG Canada. Here, they played a crucial role in managing financial crime risks.

Before joining KPMG, Jeffrey had a long-standing career at Interac Corp. Starting from April 2005 to August 2020, they held various roles of increasing responsibility. Jeffrey began as a Fraud Analyst and eventually became Director of Fraud Risk & Countermeasures. In this role, they oversaw the establishment of the Fraud Risk and Countermeasures function, ensuring the safety and soundness of all Interac products. Jeffrey also led a team of three and implemented effective countermeasures to improve fraud detection systems.

Additionally, Jeffrey worked at Credit Union Central of Canada as a Debit Card Fraud Analyst from April 2006 to September 2006. Jeffrey also gained experience as an Economic Research Analyst at Desjardins from April 2004 to September 2004. Here, they conducted research and contributed to projects evaluating Desjardins' expansion outside of Quebec.

Throughout their career, Jeffrey has demonstrated expertise in fraud risk management, financial crime prevention, and strategic consulting.

Jeffrey Hackett completed their Honours BA in Business Economics at the Glendon Campus of York University from 2003 to 2007. Additionally, they pursued Korean Studies at the University of Toronto. Jeffrey also obtained certifications in Usable Security and Internet History, Technology, and Security from Coursera Verified Certificates in 2015 and 2013, respectively.
