Romain Barthou has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. In 2012, they worked as a Stagiaire at CEVA SANTE ANIMALE for two months. In 2013, they were a Stagiaire at Universidad Rovira y Virgili for three months. Romain then joined Saft in 2015, initially as an Apprenti ingénieur de terrain, where they developed software using the CAN protocol, provided training, and performed maintenance on battery systems. Romain also completed a Stage licence 3 during this time. In 2017, Romain worked as an Ingénieur chaîne de traction hybride et électrique at Exagon Engineering for six months. Romain then joined Braincube in 2018, starting as an Ingénieur Connectivité Europe before transitioning into their current role as an IoT Solution Engineer in April 2022.

Romain Barthou's education history begins in 2010 when they enrolled at the Université de Bordeaux to pursue a DUT degree in Génie Electrique et Informatique Industrielle (GEII), which they completed in 2012. Following this, they pursued a Licence professionnelle degree in Production et Gestion Durable de l'Energie Electrique from the same university, graduating in 2013. In 2014, they continued their studies at Université Bordeaux I, where they obtained a Licence degree in Electronique Electrotechnique & Automatique (EEA) in 2015. Finally, Romain completed their Master's degree in Systèmes électroniques embarqués from the Université de Bordeaux in 2017.
