Ms. Mafruza Khan is the Director of Global Resource Mobilisation and Partnerships at BRAC.
Ms. Khan's career in philanthropy, consulting and as an analyst span over 25 years. Her work focused on the intersection of social justice, economic equity, environmental sustainability and good governance. She has a successful track record of serving as an inclusive and effective organisational leader and manager, mobilising resources, fostering strategic partnerships, developing and implementing strategy, programmes and operational plans, forecasting and managing budgets and facilitating engagement among diverse stakeholders. Prior to joining BRAC, she worked as the CEO & Advisor for Asia Philanthropy Circle (APC) in Singapore in 2021. At APC, she provided overall leadership and developed, articulated and visualised the organisational model (operating, programmatic and business). Ms. Khan started her career at Grindlays Bank ANZ in Dhaka but after completing her management training she realized she was not interested in a career in banking. After completing graduate studies in the U.S., she spent the next decade working in responsible investing and corporate governance, as an analyst in San Francisco and Washington DC, followed by a focus on community development and structural racism in in the U.S for the next 5 years. She spent the next 12 years in the philanthropy sector. She has held leadership positions in European and American organizations, including Porticus (The Netherlands), Environmental Grantmakers Association (New York, NY), Center for Social Inclusion (New York, NY), and the Pratt Center for Community Development (Brooklyn, NY) etc.
Ms. Khan has Master’s degrees in City & Regional Planning from the University of California at Berkeley and in Economics from Dhaka University. She was the single winner of the World Bank Graduate Scholarship from Bangladesh, which supported her graduate studies at Berkeley. She completed her bachelors in Economics from Dhaka University as well.
