Karen Thunert has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Karen began their career at Christa Santa Rosa Hospital as a Junior Accountant from June 1995 to June 1997. Following this, they worked at FedEx as a Courier from February 1997 to December 2002. Karen then transitioned to the non-profit sector, joining Boy Scouts of America, Alamo Area Council as a Scoutreach Executive from December 2002 to June 2008.

In 2008, Karen joined Boy Scouts of America: Circle Ten Council, where they held several roles over a duration of ten years. Karen started as a District Executive from June 2008 to July 2012, responsible for recruiting, fundraising, and providing programs for 12,000 youth in a 12 county area. Karen then advanced to the position of Senior District Executive from August 2012 to April 2014. From May 2014 to November 2018, they served as the Program Director, and finally, Karen worked as the Special Events Director from December 2018 until the present time.

Karen Thunert attended San Antonio College from 2005 to 2008 and earned a Bachelor of Applied Science degree. Karen also attended Dallas College North Lake Campus in 2008 and 2009, but did not specify a degree or field of study.
