NOTE: This is a temporary position till September 11, 2026.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Revenue Growth & Industry Solutions, the Business Development Officer – Workforce Development will be responsible for detecting business and revenue generating growth opportunities for both existing and new markets, and for developing strategies to seize those opportunities.

The Business Development Officer responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive market and business model analysis; creating and nurturing relationships with existing and new clients.

Position responsibilities and accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborates with the development of business-to-business relationships and contacts, creating and executing strategies, planning, and managing complex prospects, responding innovatively to ambiguity and thinking laterally to achieve the best outcome.
  • Ensures revenue growth targets are met and exceeded.
  • Collaborates with college stakeholders on the sales strategies, structure, and processes for the effective growth of Workforce Development revenue.
  • Delivers presentations to prospective and current clients including government, industry, and other external partners.
  • Develops and measures performance indicators that inform decision making, including assessments that may be qualitative. Translates metric and qualitative data into strategic directions used to influence future products and/or services.
  • Participates the sales strategy and business plan for the market to ensure attainment of Workforce Development goals.
  • Engages in all aspects of fulfilling the client value proposition which includes, meeting with clients, promoting training and services, introducing, and closing projects as necessary.
  • Responsible for cold-calling potential customers, prospecting for accounts, generating and following leads.
  • Coordinates, organizes, and implements various aspects of client leads including gathering, correlating and compiling research on companies, creating proposals and responding to requests for proposals.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable College policy and procedure, government legislation, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Maintains effective and positive relationships with relevant stakeholders across the College.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Business Administration, Marketing, Management, or related fields)
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in:  working with industry and community partners, and/ or working within a business context, and/or analyzing markets and businesses.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, highly entrepreneurial, creative, open-minded, persistent, and highly collaborative.
  • Ability to strategize and plan multiple high-priority deliverables with competing demands.
  • An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered.
