Chris Varela serves as the Quality Performance and HEDIS Manager at Borinquen Health Care Center since April 2021, focusing on enhancing clinical quality outcomes through collaboration with healthcare providers and management. Previously, as the Senior Manager of Primary Care Systems at the American Cancer Society from November 2013 to April 2021, Chris Varela contributed to cancer prevention and early detection efforts in Central and South Florida by implementing evidence-based interventions and quality improvement tools. Chris Varela also held roles at the Florida Department of Health, including Healthcare Preparedness Coalition Coordinator and Health Educator, and gained experience as a Guest Service Specialist at UF Health and Desk Manager at the University of Florida. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science in Healthcare Systems Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and bachelor's degrees in Biological and Physical Sciences and Health Science from Nova Southeastern University and the University of Florida, respectively.
