Mary Rather is a highly experienced geologist with a focus on reservoir analysis, currently serving in the Reservoir Analysis Unit at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management since January 2007. Their previous roles include a six-month detail in the Rate Control Section, where assessments of downhole commingling requests were conducted, and extensive geological research in the Geological & Geophysical Section, appraising land tracts for fair market value and performing detailed studies of oil and gas fields in the Gulf of Mexico. Mary Rather holds a Master's degree in Geology from the University of New Orleans and a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology and Art History from the University of Mississippi. Prior to their geological career, Mary Rather worked as an archaeologist at R.C. Goodwin and Associates from 1992 to 1994.
