Kay Sears is VP & GM, Space, Intelligence & Weapon Systems for the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) unit of The Boeing Company. In this position, she oversees development of cutting-edge autonomous technologies, intelligence capabilities and networking solutions for government and commercial customers.
Prior to joining Boeing, she was the vice president and general manager for Lockheed Martin’s military space portfolio responsible for national security missions including navigation systems, advanced communications, missile warning/missile defense, tactical space systems and space protection programs. Her tenure at Lockheed Martin also included serving as vice president for strategy and business development.
Sears’ more than 30-year career in the aerospace, defense and satellite industries began with the U.S. Department of Commerce. She then moved into government and satellite services leadership roles with Comsat Corporation, Telecom Resources International, Verestar and Intelsat General Corporation.
Since 2008, Sears has served on the President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee, and she maintains an active leadership role in several other business associations and boards. She is a past recipient of the Honorable Peter B. Teets Award, given by the National Defense Industrial Association’s Space Division, for outstanding leadership and significant contributions to the development, operations and support of space systems.
Sears graduated from the University of Richmond with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and economics and has a master’s degree in business administration from The George Washington University.
