Joyce Patton has a varied work experience. Joyce began their career in 1978 as a District Manager at Brown Transport, where they successfully managed a large office in the Truck Load market. Joyce then moved on to work as Vice President at Phil-Dan Trucking, Inc. from 1983 to 1998. In 2008, Joyce joined Boaty's Transport, Inc. as Vice President of Sales, and also took on the role of VP Sales at Boaty's Produce, Inc. during the same time period. In 2014, they became the First Vice Regent at Georgia State Society Daughters of the American Revolution, where they served in various capacities until 2016. Lastly, since 2016, Joyce has held the position of Honorary State Regent at Georgia State Society NSDAR.

Joyce Patton completed their high school education at Marshall High School, earning a high school diploma in 1972. Joyce then attended the University of North Carolina Asheville from 1972 to 1974, studying English and Writing with a focus on Elementary Education and Teaching. From 1974 to 1977, they furthered their education at Mars Hill University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.
