Alavi Aboosally

Vice President, Digital And IT at BlueScope

Alavi Aboosally has extensive work experience in various technology and innovation roles. Alavi started their career at Marmon Keystone in 1994, where they held positions as the Manager of Merchandising Services and Manager of Technical Support/PC and LAN Infrastructure. In these roles, they were responsible for developing and implementing strategies for systems and services, improving business processes, and overseeing IT operations.

In 2017, Alavi joined The Marmon Group as the Chief Technology Officer for the Engineered Components Company. In this role, they had overall responsibility for technology and information systems for a group of businesses operating in various sectors. Alavi led customer-driven service innovation initiatives, built a business intelligence/analytics program, and drove revenue growth and customer retention through the use of technology.

In 2018, Alavi took on the role of Vice President of Technology and Innovation for Metal Services at The Marmon Group. Alavi developed and executed technology and innovation strategies for a group of businesses in the metals distribution and parts fabrication sector. Alavi successfully implemented a customer-driven service innovation culture and leveraged technology to enhance commercial strategy and increase revenue.

Most recently, Alavi joined BlueScope in 2023 as the Vice President of Digital and IT. Their focus is on implementing an operating model that supports regional businesses and developing the necessary capabilities for its success. Alavi collaborates with business leadership teams to identify how shared and in-business resources can best support the strategy and roadmap.

Throughout their career, Alavi has demonstrated strong leadership skills, a customer-centric approach, and a track record of driving innovation and business growth through the use of technology.

Alavi Aboosally obtained an MBA degree from the University of Pittsburgh Katz Graduate School of Business in 1999. In addition, Alavi holds several certifications including ITIL - IT Service Lifecycle Management, LUMA Institute Human-Centered Design Methods, and New Product Blueprinting from The AIM Institute.
