Julia Gomez-Coban, M.A. has a diverse and extensive work experience. Julia started their career at The World Bank as a Financial Transparency Intern in 2006. Julia then worked as a Project Assistant for Strategic Planning at the U.S. Department of State from 2006 to 2008. In 2009, they joined the International Monetary Fund as a Special Staff Assistant in the Fiscal Affairs department, where they worked until 2011.
In 2012, Julia transitioned to the private sector, working at JPMorgan Chase as a Sales & Marketing Associate. During their time there, they were responsible for developing and executing marketing initiatives and events for the Los Angeles Commercial Banking market. Julia provided direct sales support to the Market Manager and bankers.
In 2015, Julia joined L.A. Care Health Plan, where they held various roles in marketing and member engagement. As a Marketing Program Manager, they managed and executed strategic marketing campaigns, health education, and outreach activities, as well as community events for L.A. Care's Health Service Initiatives and Family Resource Centers. Julia was later promoted to Supervisor and then Marketing Manager, overseeing marketing and branding efforts for L.A. Care and Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan's partnership.
Currently, Julia is working at Blue Shield of California as Principal, Creative and Content Brand Strategist. In this role, they ensure the integration, integrity, and consistency of the company's brand, creative, and messaging across marketing channels. Julia is responsible for propelling the brand forward while staying true to the organization's values, beliefs, and identity.
Julia Gomez-Coban, M.A., holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in International Affairs and Development from The George Washington University, which they obtained between 2005 and 2007. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in International Relations - Political Science from UC San Diego, studying from 2000 to 2004.
In addition to their formal education, Julia Gomez-Coban has also attained various certifications. Julia completed the Leadership Essentials program at the Hispanic & Latino Leadership Academy, offered by McKinsey & Company, in July 2023. Julia also obtained a Business Leadership certification from McKinsey & Company in June 2023.
Furthermore, they hold a Brand Management Certification from eCornell, acquired in April 2022. Additionally, Julia Gomez-Coban completed a certification course titled "The Step-by-Step Guide to Building your Thought Leadership on LinkedIn" offered by LinkedIn in April 2021.
