Clay Britton has an extensive work history, with their most recent position being General Counsel & VP, Legal and Compliance Services at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas starting in December 2021. Prior to that, they served as Chief Counsel for Kansas Governor Laura Kelly from January 2019 to December 2021. From 2016 to 2019, they worked as an Assistant United States Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice. Before that, they worked as an Attorney at Lathrop & Gage LLP from 2011 to 2016 and as an Assistant Attorney General for the Kansas Attorney General's office from 2009 to 2011. Clay also gained experience working as a Law Clerk for the Office of the Kansas Attorney General and as a Legal Intern for the Douglas County District Attorney. Additionally, they served as Finance Director for Moore for Congress in 2006 and as a Senior Constituent Liaison for the Office of Governor Kathleen Sebelius in 2004.
Clay Britton attended the University of Kansas from 2000 to 2004, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in History and Political Science. Clay then pursued further education at the University of Kansas School of Law from 2005 to 2008 and obtained a J.D. degree.
