John Cpin (pronounced "spin") is a communications specialist in the areas of media relations, crisis management, public affairs, and international relations. Prior to joining BLJ, John worked for various prominent lobbying and public affairs firms in Washington, DC, including BGR Group (formerly Barbour, Griffith & Rogers), Avenue Strategies, and Mercury Public Affairs. In these positions, he managed the PR side of the firms, including generating internal and confidential communications for high-profile clients, as well as managing, building, protecting, and growing client brands both domestically and internationally specifically for international leaders and foreign governments.
Having started his career as a television news reporter in New York, John has held numerous positions in the political arena including press secretary for Congresswoman Nancy Boyda's Congressional campaign and communications director for a gubernatorial campaign in Nebraska. While in Chicago and Springfield, Illinois, he held positions as a communications and policy advisor for the Illinois Lieutenant Governor and deputy communications director for the Illinois State Board of Education.
A first-generation American, John earned a Bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Franklin & Marshall College. He also holds a Master's degree in Communications.
