Shawn Badger has over 18 years of experience in software engineering, with their most recent role being Principal Software Engineer at Vivint Smart Home from May 2018 to February 2023. Before joining Vivint, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer for Sorenson Communications and Senior Staff Software Engineer for Blue Coat Systems. Badger also spent several years at Applied Signal Technology, where they worked as a Senior Software Engineer, and earlier in their career, they worked as a Software Developer and IT Manager at Durham Brands. Badger started their career as a Software Engineer at MultiLing Corporation, where they gained experience in creating human-assisted language translation tools and designing and implementing GUIs.

Shawn Badger attended the University of Utah from 2002 to 2006 and received a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. Later on, they attended Utah State University from 2012 to 2014, but did not complete a degree program. Shawn focused on Computer Science during both of their academic experiences.
