Shamim Sharafat began their work experience in 2013 as an IT Support Specialist at Animal Care Centers of NYC, where they installed software, configured computers and servers, and provided IT support to end-users. Shamim also worked as an IT Network Analyst, maintaining server systems and coordinating information backup using Veritas Backup Exec.

In 2016, Shamim joined City University of New York as an IT Specialist, where they deployed and configured Cisco Catalyst switches, ISR routers, and wireless APs. Shamim also monitored alerts from servers, switches, and routers, and assisted in maintaining IT documentation and project plans.

In 2019, Shamim moved to BlackHawk Data and worked as a Network Engineer. Shamim designed and deployed network infrastructure using SD-WAN FortiGate and Aruba Switches for a CUNY community college. Shamim also configured and deployed SD-WAN FortiGate solutions for a City of New York agency, and managed FortiGate Cloud instances for a healthcare industry client.

Shamim Sharafat obtained an AAS in Computer Network Technology from Borough of Manhattan Community College, which they attended from 2010 to 2012. Shamim then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Computer Systems Technology at CUNY New York City College of Technology from 2012 to 2015.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Shamim Sharafat has obtained various certifications. In 2016, they earned a CCNA certification from Cisco. Shamim also holds certifications from Fortinet, including Fortinet Network Security Expert Level 4: Certified Professional (obtained in 2020), Fortinet Network Security Expert Level 5: Certified Analyst (obtained in 2021), and Fortinet Network Security Expert Level 7: Certified Architect (obtained in 2022). Additionally, they have an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification from Amazon Web Services (obtained in 2020). Finally, Shamim Sharafat holds an Arista Cloud Engineer: Level 3 certification from Arista Networks, although the exact date of its attainment is not provided.
