Jeff Ugai has had a varied and extensive career. From 2002 to 2006, they worked as a Web Developer and Technical Support Representative at Brainstorm Internet. From 2006 to 2007, they served as an Intern for US Senator Ken Salazar (D-CO) and as a Production Artist (Creative Projects Team) for Lore International Institute. In 2006, they also worked as a Consultant (Information Technology Services) for the University of Southern California. From 2011 to 2012, they were a Community Economic Development Clinic at the Civil Justice Clinic, UC Hastings College of the Law, and also served as an Adjunct Professor at UC Hastings College of the Law. From 2012 to 2016, they were a Staff Attorney and Data and Innovation Team Lead for HomeBase, The Center for Common Concerns. Finally, from 2016 to the present, they have held the roles of Chief Operating Officer, Director of Customer Advocacy, and Director of Privacy at Bitfocus.
Jeff Ugai's education history includes obtaining a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (now UC Law San Francisco) in 2012, and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Public Policy, Management & Planning from the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy in 2009. Jeff also holds certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals, including a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) obtained in December 2017, a Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) obtained in November 2017, a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) obtained in October 2015, a Tableau Desktop 9 Qualified Associate obtained in September 2015, and an Attorney obtained from The State Bar of California in June 2013.
