Kelli Smith is an experienced law enforcement professional and coach with a background in criminal justice and forensic science. Kelli has served as a Deputy at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office since August 2015 and has been a Coach at the Birmingham YMCA since May 2013, working with children from pre-K through 12th grade in sports such as Track & Field, Soccer, and Basketball. Previous roles include a Toxicology Intern at the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, where Kelli contributed to method development and improved turnaround times for testing, and a Community Service Division Intern at the Birmingham Police Department, gaining insights into law enforcement operations. Kelli holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a focus on Forensic Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, obtained between 2010 and 2015.
