Sean Scanlon is the VP, Finance & Operations at Birdies. Sean has over 10 years of experience in financial leadership roles. Sean started their career as a controller at ClimateWorks Foundation in 2009. Sean then became a consulting controller at The Brenner Group in 2015 before joining thredUP.com as their controller in 2016. Sean was responsible for the financial leadership of thredUP.com as they scaled their business 2x in revenue and headcount. Sean was also responsible for the rollout of their international ops, retail stores, and distribution partnerships. Sean facilitated equity and debt financing rounds and was responsible for debt covenant reporting and FP&A. Sean also selected thredUP.com's auditing firm and led annual financial statement audits. Sean oversaw payroll operations for 1,400+ employees spread over 10 locations and was responsible for cost accounting and managing 2.8M units of unique inventory. Sean also oversaw sales tax compliance and implemented Vertex software. Sean was responsible for 409a valuations and maintained and recorded share-based compensation. In May 2019, Sean left thredUP.com to join Birdies as their VP, Finance & Operations where they are responsible for all aspects of finance and operations.
Sean Scanlon has a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Sean also has a Certification from the California Board of Accountancy in Certified Public Accountant.
Sean Scanlon reports to Bianca Gates, CEO & Co-Founder. They are on a team with Cari Roberts Cameron - Head of Marketing, Jeff Reichelderfer - VP, Growth, and Robyn White - VP, Merchandising, Planning, Production, Supply Chain, Wholesale & Store Operations.
