Jay Shock started their work experience in 1990 as the owner and operator of Jay Shock Enterprises. In 1993, they moved on to work as a Divisional Business Director at Pinnacle Brands Inc. After leaving Pinnacle Brands, Jay joined the City of Searcy in 2003, where they served as the Director of Human Resources and also as the Executive Assistant to the Mayor. Jay held these positions until 2015 when they became the Director of Human Resources at Birch Tree Communities, Inc.

Jay Shock attended Harding University from 1969 to 1973. No information is available regarding the degree or field of study pursued during this time.
