Kathryn Zavala has a diverse work experience in the medical and technology sectors. Kathryn served as the Chief Operating Officer at MedTech Innovator from January 2016. In 2021, they became the Managing Director at BioTools Innovator. Kathryn also held the position of the Executive Steering Committee member for the Mayo Clinic Beahrs Surgical Innovation Summit starting from June 2022. Kathryn worked as the DRIVe Accelerator Network - Grantee Project Director at the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) from June 2018 until May 2023. Prior to that, they were a Senior Technology Fellow in the Office of Intellectual Property at the UCLA Technology Development Group from December 2014 to June 2016. Additionally, Kathryn worked as a Teaching Assistant for the Easton Technology Leadership Program at UCLA Anderson School of Management from January 2016 to March 2016. Kathryn also gained experience as an Analyst at RCT Ventures from June 2015 to October 2015 and in Commercial Strategy at Campbell Alliance (now Syneos Health) from June 2015 to August 2015.
Kathryn Zavala holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of California, Berkeley, where they pursued a double major in Molecular and Cell Biology & Rhetoric. Kathryn later earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from UCLA, specializing in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology.
