Kevin Ha has worked at several companies since 2004. In 2004, they worked as an Information Systems Data Analyst (Co-op) at AstraZeneca. From 2006 to 2011, they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant (Co-op) at the Hospital for Sick Children and the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute, Mount Sinai Hospital. During this time, they developed computational methods for studying the copy number variation (CNV) landscape of a large North American cohort assayed using Affymetrix GeneChips and performed a case-control study on CNV data of 1,200 colorectal cancer subjects and 1,200 healthy individuals. In 2011, they worked as a Research Intern at Microsoft Research, where they developed SeQCoS, an open-source application that performs quality control of genomic sequencing datasets. From 2011 to 2019, they worked at the University of Toronto as a Graduate Researcher. Finally, since 2019, they have worked as Head of Data Science, Genomics, Lead Data Scientist, Genomics, and Data Scientist at BioSymetrics.
Kevin Ha has a diverse academic background, having studied Molecular Genetics, Human Genetics, and Bioinformatics. Kevin completed their Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto from 2011 to 2019. Prior to this, they obtained a M.Sc. in Human Genetics and Bioinformatics from McGill University between 2008 and 2011. Before that, they completed a B.Sc. in Honours Biology and Bioinformatics Co-op at the University of Waterloo between 2003 and 2008.
