Prior to joining Bioscribe, Ellen Leventry was the Director of Marketing & Communications for Cornell University’s Atkinson Center for Sustainability where she spearheaded a strategic rebranding of the collaborative sustainability research hub. During her tenure as Director of Media Relations for the university’s College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, she helped develop the university's framework for promoting research and expert voices in the media that became the model now used broadly across multiple units and Cornell's central administration. From award-winning op-eds to the award-winning Cornell University “Got Milk?” campaign, Ellen spent the past two decades promoting Cornell University’s impact through clear, creative, compelling, and credible communications. A writer, editor, media relations expert, and creative director, she brings extensive experience in scientific storytelling, brand management, and working with varied stakeholders to bear on each new client project. Prior to joining Cornell, she spent a decade doing editorial and production work for highly trafficked websites, such as the two-time Webby Award winning Beliefnet.com. She started her career at TheStreet.com, reporting on Wall Street and managing the site’s message boards and chat partnerships with AOL and Yahoo. Her work has also appeared in/on: ABCNews.com, The Denver Post, Spirituality & Health, Publisher’s Weekly, and in several books. She holds a BA from Cornell University (summa cum laude) in religious studies and classical civilizations, and an MA from Columbia University in religion. She resides in Ithaca, NY.
