Michael Gossing has held several positions in the field of biotechnology. From 2022 to present, they have been the Head of Strain Engineering at Melt&Marble. From 2018 to 2022, they were a Post Doc Fellow at AstraZeneca. From 2014 to 2018, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at Systems and Synthetic Biology, Chalmers University of Technology, where they worked on metabolic engineering of S. cerevisiae for lipid production, fermentation of S. cerevisiae in stirred-tank bioreactors and shake flasks, analysis of fatty acids, lipids, organic acids and amino acids using HPLC and GC, analysis of large-scale transcriptome data using R, and flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy. One of their key achievements was the production of cocoa butter-like lipids by metabolic engineering of yeast lipid metabolism. From 2006 to 2014, they were a Research Associate at the University of Notre Dame.
Michael Gossing obtained a Diplom in Biochemie from Bielefeld University between 2003 and 2009. Michael then continued their studies at Bielefeld University, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry in 2013.
