Abbas Shaikh is a Team Lead at Biokind Analytics, currently leading a project for healthcare nonprofit Ability Connection. As a Data Analyst, Abbas has worked with organizations such as Nora’s Home and Planned Parenthood to analyze donation trends. At Rice University, Abbas is an Undergraduate Researcher in OptimaLab, focusing on neural network sparsification. Additionally, Abbas is a Teaching Assistant for COMP 182 and has conducted research in the Computational Imaging Lab. As a Research Intern at MedIX REU, Abbas worked on a texture analysis model for identifying mutations related to mesothelioma. Previous experience includes research in medical image phenotyping and analyzing whole-exome sequencing data for pediatric patients at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Abbas is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Statistics at Rice University.
