Shawn Owens is a scientist with extensive experience in mass spectrometry and analytical methodologies. Currently serving as the leader of mass spectrometry R&D at SpaceM, Owens focuses on in situ single cell metabolomics and strategy formulation. Prior experience includes a role as Senior Scientist at BASF, where Owens delivered imaging mass spectrometry solutions for drug tissue disposition and toxicology, and developed analytical methods for product development and regulatory compliance. At Bruker Daltonics, Owens held multiple positions, including MALDI Imaging Applications Scientist and North America Product Specialist for FT-ICR mass spectrometry. Additionally, Owens conducted research as a Visiting Scientist at the Getty Conservation Institute. Owens earned a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from UC Santa Barbara and has previous education from Santa Clara University and the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
