Denise Sonntag has over 20 years of work experience in various roles. Denise started their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand from January 1999 to March 2001. Denise then joined Resprotect GmbH, Dresden in July 2001 as a Project Leader in Molecular Microbiology, where they worked until August 2007. From September 2007 to March 2012, Denise worked at biocrates life sciences ag as a Group Leader in Biochemistry Contract Research. Denise then held the position of Director of Contract Research at biocrates life sciences ag from March 2012 to July 2020. Currently, they are serving as the Senior Manager of Sales and Operations at biocrates life sciences ag since August 2020.

Denise Sonntag completed their education at The Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, starting in 1989 and finishing in 1994. During this time, they obtained a Diplom degree in Biochemistry. Following this, they pursued further education at the same institution from 1994 to 1998, where they earned a Dr.rer.nat. degree in Microbiology and Molecular Biology.
