Don Gibson has a long and varied work experience. In 2021, they are a Scientist at BioConsortia, Inc., where they are developing lab-based and greenhouse-based assays phenotyping plant-microbe interactions and managing a small team of research assistants. In 2020, they were a Business Developer & Scientific Expert at MyFloraDNA Inc., a Campaign Manager for Jim Provenza for Yolo County Supervisor 2020, and a Political Organizer for Team Bloomberg, Scientists for Mike. From 2010 to 2020, they were a PhD Graduate Student at UC Davis, a Junior Specialist at the same university, a CEO & Co-Founder at Bio Mobile, Inc., and a Campaign Manager for Teri Burns for Natomas School Board. In 2009, they were an Undergraduate Researcher at UC Davis, and in 2007, they were an Intern at the Vegetable Quality and Nutrition Research Laboratory at Seminis.

Don Gibson received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Integrative Genetics and Genomics from the University of California, Davis in 2019. Prior to that, they earned a BS in Biotechnology - Fermentation/Microbiology from the University of California, Davis in 2010.
