Joe Panetta has a distinguished career in the biotechnology and regulatory affairs industries, spanning over four decades. Joe started their career at the US Environmental Protection Agency as a Senior Policy Analyst and then moved to the private sector, holding various leadership roles at Pennwalt Corporation, Mycogen Corporation, Dow AgroSciences, and Genlantis. In 1985, they became the Manager of Global Regulatory Affairs at Pennwalt Corporation, where they worked until 1988 when they joined Mycogen Corporation as the Vice President of Governmental and Regulatory Affairs. At Dow AgroSciences, they served as the Global Leader of Biotechnology Government Affairs from 1998 to 1999. In 1999, they became the President & CEO of Biocom California, a position they still hold. In addition, they have been a Member of the Board of Directors at Genlantis since 2013. Notably, in 2014, they were appointed as a Representative of the life science industry by California Governor Jerry Brown to the governing board of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine. Furthermore, they serve as the Chairman of the Board of the California Biotechnology Foundation since 2008. Joe Panetta has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from Le Moyne College. Joe also has a Master of Public Health degree with a focus on Industrial and Environmental Health Science from the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health.
