Tom Dietterich is a distinguished expert in the field of computer science, currently serving as Chief Scientist at BigML, Inc. since January 2011. At Oregon State University, Dietterich holds the title of Distinguished Professor (Emeritus), dedicating time to research in uncertainty quantification, anomaly detection, automated data quality control, and robust AI, while also volunteering in various service roles. Previous experiences include Chief Scientist roles at Decho Corp. and the Smart Desktop Division at Pi Corporation, as well as developing machine learning methods at Arris Pharmaceutical. Dietterich earned a PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University and holds an MS in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, along with an AB in Mathematics from Oberlin College.
