Damien O'Neill has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Damien began their career in the Royal Navy as a Chief Petty Officer in Engineering Technician (Marine Engineering) and served for 12 years. After leaving the navy, Damien worked as a Senior Technician at EMCOR Facilities Services for three years. Damien then joined Doncasters Group Limited as a Site Services Manager for two years. Damien further advanced their career by joining Advanced Technology Services as a Business Manager for Production Maintenance, where they worked for five years. Most recently, they have been working at Biffa as a Senior Business Manager, leading a team of 150 people in waste and street cleansing services. Currently, Damien is the Group Head of Engineering (Maintenance) at Biffa, responsible for strategic direction and leadership of over 250 maintenance managers, engineers, and engineering support teams across the UK.
Damien O'Neill started their education at the Royal Navy from 1999 to 2001, where they obtained a National Diploma in Engineering. In 2014, they enrolled in The Open University and completed a Certificate of Higher Education (Open) from 2014 to 2016. In terms of additional certifications, Damien became a Technician Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in March 2023. Damien also completed the TOP-SET Investigator Course provided by Kelvin TOP-SET in February 2023. In September 2021, they became a Member of the Institute of Leadership and obtained Affiliate Membership with CIWM in July 2021. Furthermore, Damien obtained the IOSH Behavioural Science for Leadership in Safety certification in June 2021 and the IOSH Managing Safely certification in November 2017.
