Rod Ballinger is a seasoned professional in the mining industry with over 17 years of experience, currently serving as General Manager for Newman Operations at BHP since July 2011. In this role, Rod oversees all mining production activities, ensuring safety and productivity within a large operation that includes BHP’s only autonomous haulage fleet. Previous positions at BHP encompassed roles such as Chief of Staff to the President of Minerals Australia, General Manager at Jimblebar, and Manager of Mine Performance, where Rod implemented significant productivity and safety improvements. Earlier experience includes positions at Macarthur Coal, Mining One Consultants, and Thiess. Rod holds an MBA from Curtin University and dual bachelor's degrees in Mining and Mineral Engineering from the University of Ballarat.
