Leon van den Berg is an accomplished professional in the field of mine ventilation and mechanical engineering, currently serving as Principal Ventilation at BHP since May 2023. Prior to this role, Leon held the position of Principal Ventilation at OZ Minerals for a brief period, as well as various engineering leadership roles at BBE Group, including Technical Director and Senior Ventilation Engineer. Leon's extensive experience also includes working as a Senior Consultant & Manager at Snowden/BBE, Group Manager at Golder Associates, and Mechanical Engineer at GHD. Leon began a career in engineering with a role as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer at Anglo Coal. Academic qualifications include a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pretoria, a Graduate Diploma in Mine Ventilation from UNSW, and a Certificate in Mine Environment Control from the University of South Africa.
